T- Dome Vintage Gem #1
What’s happening here?!
February 1982 roof construction for The Dome began.
Just 6 months later in the following August, the last corner of wood was nailed in place! Covering a whopping six acres of space. 🤯
414 glulam beams
1,568 smaller horizontal glulam purlins
18,798 bolts holding them together
28,512 2”x8” boards spread out on top of that
323,150 nails each hammered by hand
This was all covered by multiple layers of urethane insulation and sealant giving The Dome it’s iconic blue hue.
This is just the beginning of The Dome’s story...
You may not have been there for the construction, but if you’ve lived here for some time, you probably have a story of your own to share.
