#LoveLocal: Ruthy & Andy Mosaic Real Estate
"Stop the comparison game and work on a game plan to make your dreams happen!" — Ruthy Taylor
- Tell us about yourselves and how you hope to impact the community around you!
Andy and I are not Tacoma locals. We moved here 12 years ago and know what it's like to start over in a new city. We moved here initially as church planters-we've always had a heart and curiosity for people. I think our success in real estate came initially because we were the furthest thing from "salespeople." We were people people, and the community we built wanted to support us. As we grew, we hired people who had gifts and talents in areas we didn't; we aligned with other leaders who shared the same values. We prioritized generosity, giving back to the community — it's modeled in our brokerage cap structure and it's built into our mission statement. We believe that if you help enough people get what they want, you'll get what you want.
- What advice would you give someone who is 40+ that is hesitant to start a new venture?
We decided to go off on our own as an independent brokerage a little over 2 years ago. It was the scariest decision of our careers. It was also the best decision we ever made. Age means nothing— I think the biggest thing that holds us back is we compare our seasons of life to other people's seasons of life. Stop the comparison game and work on a game plan to make your dreams happen!
- What does the phrase, “age is just a number” mean to you?
I remember when I was a teenager I thought people who were 40+ were so old. I reached my 40's much faster than I expected...anyone else? I'm so grateful for the fumbles, trials, and hiccups that paved my way to my 40's. I'm still growing into the person I want to be and look forward to the next decade of life!
